Well, yesterday was day one of the big trip, and apart from the fact that we didn't leave until about 12:30, it went great. The car behaved itself and we had some great fun on the roads around the peak district, although Mark did manage to bottom it out on an unclassified road we had to take as a diversion ... *cringes* ... To be fair, it was a case of seeing the bump, registering that it was quite big, and thinking "oooh maybe that's a bit .. *crunch*". And it didn't help that I'd put the suspension in soft mode without telling him, because the road was basically one long cattle grid.
Anyway there's nothing dripping out of the bottom so we presume everything is alright; I mean, that's what the sump guard's there for, right? Hmm.
The Peak district had some amazing roads, definitely worth spending some time here if you're up this way, and the roads between Buxton and Macclesfield are excellent, although I did get stuck behind the number 58 bus. More unsung are the A6 from Buxton to Bakewell which follows a river valley, and the A621 from Baslow into Sheffield with some excellent fast sweeping bends.
We managed to take a couple of pictures at the Cat and Fiddle, but hopefully when we start leaving at sensible times in the morning we will have the chance to take more as the tour progresses.

Oh, some more italian electrics for you - whoever heard of a voltmeter that reads differently when you are going uphill to when you are going downhill? :-S
